7,000 UK churches launch major national advertising campaign

More than 1 million people in the UK are now estimated to have taken part in an Alpha course, offering them 'an opportunity to explore the meaning of life' at a local church.

This September's campaign will be one of the largest religious advertising initiatives ever seen in Britain. It is expected to be further boosted by a 10-week national television documentary series on ITV ­ Alpha: Will it Change Their Lives? ­ hosted by David Frost starting on July 29.

A poll conducted by MORI in September 2000 revealed that over three and a half million adults in the UK - 6 per cent of the population - have now either done an 'Alpha' course, or know someone in their circle who has.

Many of our neighbouring churches are running Alpha Courses.  Search for one in your area at http://www.alphacourse.org/findacourse/

PERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Collection of Items for Operation Christmas Child has been taking place over the last few months. Operation Christmas Child sends a message of hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and Gospel literature.

The program provides an opportunity for individuals of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on missions project that reaches out to suffering children while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas—Jesus Christ, God's greatest gift. In 2000, OCC collected over 4 million shoe boxes worldwide and distributed them to children in more than 75 countries.
