Some of us adults missed out on the activities of the Going Bananas week. Now it was our turn to get a taste of what went on. The evening started with a buffet of international dishes based on the staple food of rice. I managed to gorge myself on 3 or 4 different curries and sample a number of other foods as well. The labels on the food were enough of a clue to comfort you to the fact that the food was palatable. Fortunately nothing like fried locust appeared on the menu. With stomach out front in a wheelbarrow we bounded on to more energetic pursuits. There was a bit of Jewish dancing and some action accompaniment to some of the choruses. A bit later was a short language lesson - and I can now say 'I love you' in Korean to add to my ability to say this in French and Russian. I'm not sure how this will help me in my career in the construction industry, where the builders are more content with a pat on the back! The highlights of the evening for me was the Korean traditional dancing for the spectacular dress and of course the PUPPET PALS 'cause they were nutters. The evening was a good introduction for some to the type of thing that Christians around the world are about. Chris Beeston the leader for the week, reminded us that many are on a journey to find God - and I hope we were all able in some small way to point some in the right direction. Rob |
