Domestic Matters

The latter part of July saw us enjoying some family events. On 20th July we picked up the children from Chengelo School and travelled up to Sakeji to be there for Sakeji's 75th Thanksgiving Celebrations. It is the first time our oldest three have been back at Sakeji since they left in 1997. It was a happy nostalgic time for them.

After this we had Mark's brother David, his wife Ceri and family visiting us for three weeks. This was a very memorable time showing the cousins around some of the beauty spots of Zambia and its wild life. It also gave them a chance to see a bit of how life is for us in Kasama. It was marred only by a medical emergency when we were in Victoria Falls as one of them had to be rushed to Bulawayo for some surgery. The Lord over ruled greatly as the surgery went well and even enabled their son to recover enough to get back to our holiday place and see the spectacular site of the Victoria Falls.

On 3rd September we dropped our five children off at Chengelo School. Sam in particular was counting the days for the start of term and was looking forward to seeing his friend Daniel Richardson again. Daniel had been away with his family on furlough in Britain. Amy and Gareth will be studying for exams to be held next month. Sean is serious about school and also the sports field! Lucy has discovered to her dismay that school is not all just fun!

New Bemba Bible Translation Team

On the Bemba Bible Translation Project, things have settled down after some disturbances among the Translators Team in terms of personnel. Mark has been processing some of the completed Gospels through new Bible Society software (called Paratext) a completed going through the final drafts of the four Gospels with the Team. Please pray for the Holy Spirit's help in handling God's word through the process of translation. Mark is just completing a course (by email correspondence) on Bible Translating run by SIL which has been a real eye opener.

Mark's Home Visit

In case you missed our last visit, here's an even quicker one!

God willing Mark is making a quick visit to Britain, and will be there for the month of November. The main reason is to speak at a number of local churches which we had to miss out in August last year. With the children well settled into boarding school in Zambia, we feel it isn't possible for these years to take a long furlough in UK

So we plan to make a few shorter visits separately to give report meetings and then later on to come as a family for a school holiday period.

If you'd like Mark to visit your local church, please email us as soon as possible <[email protected]> or you could contact our UK address, so that they can email us. UK Contact address being: 3 Llanerch Road, Dunvant Swansea, SA2 7SP Wales Tel: 01792 207492
